Environmental and Social Safeguards
 ESS Principles
NIA is committed to manage its investment activities in an environmentally-and-socially-friendly manner. This approach is in line with the triple bottom line concept (people, planet, profit) in which projects that are funded by NIA is expected to impact benefits on the affected communities and environment on top of the financial profit.
The people, social equity, or human capital bottom line pertains to fair and beneficial business practices toward labour and the community and region in which a corporation conducts its business.

The planet, environmental bottom line, or natural capital bottom line refers to sustainable environmental practices.

The profit or economic bottom line deals with the economic value created by the organization after deducting the cost of all inputs, including the cost of the capital tied up.
 ESS Frameworks
In implementing the commitment, NIA refer to the Environmental and Social Safeguard (ESS) framework and guideline which are comprehensively developed, subject to periodic reviews, and are well aligned with related national laws. These framework and guideline are referred to as Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
